LOIS IRENE EVANS, 70, wife of Pastor Tony Evans has gone to be with the Lord. 

She had been down with cancer and has been the subject of a call for prayers by the husband these last few months.

Dr Tony Evans, author of many best selling books including KINGDOM MAN, announced her departure in a moving post across social media earlier today.

"Just before the sun came up this morning, the love of my life, Lois Irene Evans, transitioned from earth and watched her first sunrise from heaven.

"I had the privilege of holding her hand as she was lulled into eternity. Our four children surrounded her as well. As she slipped away, we told her how much we love her, how proud we are of her, and how thankful we are for the life she has lived.

"We are what we are because of her.

"Thank you so much for praying for my wife and for my family. God answered our prayers this morning by relieving her of suffering. But the truth is, He has been answering our prayers all along. Lois lived beyond medical expectations, not once, but over and over again. God has been so kind to give us more time to make wonderful memories.

"While we know the coming days will be challenging, right now we are grateful for the life and love of a woman who planted seeds that will bear fruit for generations to come.

"Thank you for your continued prayers for our family as we grieve, and also for your patience as we finalize our plans to honor her life."

CHRISTIANITY TODAY MAGAZINE CALLS FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP'S REMOVAL

IN THE FIRST MAJOR BREAKING OF EVANGELICAL RANKS, THE BILLY GRAHAM-FOUNDED MAGAZINE SAYS DONALD TRUMP LACKS THE REQUIRED CHARACTER FOR THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Full Text of the Editorial: 

In our founding documents, Billy Graham explains that Christianity Today will help evangelical Christians interpret the news in a manner that reflects their faith. The impeachment of Donald Trump is a significant event in the story of our republic. It requires comment.

The typical CT approach is to stay above the fray and allow Christians with different political convictions to make their arguments in the public square, to encourage all to pursue justice according to their convictions and treat their political opposition as charitably as possible. We want CT to be a place that welcomes Christians from across the political spectrum and reminds everyone that politics is not the end and purpose of our being. We take pride in the fact, for instance, that politics does not dominate our homepage.

That said, we do feel it necessary from time to time to make our own opinions on political matters clear—always, as Graham encouraged us, doing so with both conviction and love. We love and pray for our president, as we love and pray for leaders (as well as ordinary citizens) on both sides of the political aisle.

Let’s grant this to the president: The Democrats have had it out for him from day one, and therefore nearly everything they do is under a cloud of partisan suspicion. This has led many to suspect not only motives but facts in these recent impeachment hearings. And, no, Mr. Trump did not have a serious opportunity to offer his side of the story in the House hearings on impeachment.

But the facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.

The reason many are not shocked about this is that this president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration. He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals. He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone—with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders—is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused.

Trump’s evangelical supporters have pointed to his Supreme Court nominees, his defense of religious liberty, and his stewardship of the economy, among other things, as achievements that justify their support of the president. We believe the impeachment hearings have made it absolutely clear, in a way the Mueller investigation did not, that President Trump has abused his authority for personal gain and betrayed his constitutional oath. The impeachment hearings have illuminated the president’s moral deficiencies for all to see. This damages the institution of the presidency, damages the reputation of our country, and damages both the spirit and the future of our people. None of the president’s positives can balance the moral and political danger we face under a leader of such grossly immoral character.

This concern for the character of our national leader is not new in CT. In 1998, we wrote this:

The President's failure to tell the truth—even when cornered—rips at the fabric of the nation. This is not a private affair. For above all, social intercourse is built on a presumption of trust: trust that the milk your grocer sells you is wholesome and pure; trust that the money you put in your bank can be taken out of the bank; trust that your babysitter, firefighters, clergy, and ambulance drivers will all do their best. And while politicians are notorious for breaking campaign promises, while in office they have a fundamental obligation to uphold our trust in them and to live by the law.

And this:

Unsavory dealings and immoral acts by the President and those close to him have rendered this administration morally unable to lead.

Unfortunately, the words that we applied to Mr. Clinton 20 years ago apply almost perfectly to our current president. Whether Mr. Trump should be removed from office by the Senate or by popular vote next election—that is a matter of prudential judgment. That he should be removed, we believe, is not a matter of partisan loyalties but loyalty to the Creator of the Ten Commandments.

To the many evangelicals who continue to support Mr. Trump in spite of his blackened moral record, we might say this: Remember who you are and whom you serve. Consider how your justification of Mr. Trump influences your witness to your Lord and Savior. Consider what an unbelieving world will say if you continue to brush off Mr. Trump’s immoral words and behavior in the cause of political expediency. If we don’t reverse course now, will anyone take anything we say about justice and righteousness with any seriousness for decades to come? Can we say with a straight face that abortion is a great evil that cannot be tolerated and, with the same straight face, say that the bent and broken character of our nation’s leader doesn’t really matter in the end?

We have reserved judgment on Mr. Trump for years now. Some have criticized us for our reserve. But when it comes to condemning the behavior of another, patient charity must come first. So we have done our best to give evangelical Trump supporters their due, to try to understand their point of view, to see the prudential nature of so many political decisions they have made regarding Mr. Trump. To use an old cliché, it’s time to call a spade a spade, to say that no matter how many hands we win in this political poker game, we are playing with a stacked deck of gross immorality and ethical incompetence. And just when we think it’s time to push all our chips to the center of the table, that’s when the whole game will come crashing down. It will crash down on the reputation of evangelical religion and on the world’s understanding of the gospel. And it will come crashing down on a nation of men and women whose welfare is also our concern.

CHURCHES URGED TO PRAY FOR MEN AND BOYS ON SUNDAY …as Nigeria joins the world to mark International Men’s Day

Kingdom Men Global Network in association with several other ministries and men’s groups has called on all churches to pray for men and boys on Sunday, November 19 to commemorate the 2017 International Men’s Day (IMD) on the theme Celebrate Men and Boys. Nigerians are also encouraged to add a touch of blue to their attires that weekend in honour of men.

A media release signed by Kingdom Men’s Steward for media Strategy and Outreaches, Dennis Onwuegbu, the ministry said it was collaborating with others to observe the special day for men, to bring Nigeria into the fold of countries recognising and honouring their men. There are over 60 countries of the world where International Men’s Day has been celebrated annually.

Kingdom Men and its collaborators, the release explains, is pioneering this maiden effort prior to building a broader coalition of men to ensure that Nigeria will henceforth join the rest of the world in the annual programme.

As a part of the celebration of that day, which happens to be on a Sunday this year, churches are being called upon to set apart a few minutes during their services for special prayers for men and boys. The focus of the Prayer is that Nigerian men and boys shall grow in Christlikeness. Nigerians are also encouraged to have a touch of blue in their dresses that day in honour of men for the sacrifices they make as sons and brothers, husbands and fathers and as heads at home and leaders in communities.  

In Port Harcourt, where KINGDOM MEN is holding the Inaugural edition of its forum for the discussion of men issues, Men’s Breakfast Roundtable (MBR) on Saturday, November 18, the International Men’s Day will be a major highlight with goodwill messages from many men of God. The two-in-one event is scheduled for The Hub Event Centre, 187, Peter Odili Road, Trans Amadi Layout at 9:00am

Speaking on the essence of the Day, Kingdom Men’s Chief Vision Steward, Pastor Remi Akano said “it will help to sensitise the public, governments at all levels and the Faith groups on the need to pay closer attention to men and boys issues especially as the country grapples with socio-economic, political and moral adjustments.”

He declared: “A little more attention to the peculiar needs of men will contribute substantially to reducing many of our socio-political challenges; not because they are the direct cause, but because they have vicarious liabilities as heads of the most import single social unit, the family.”

Also speaking on the importance of the Day, Mr Deji Irawo, A men’s resource technocrat, who runs Men Alive Network, MAN, emphasised the need to pay more attention on the challenges that being a man or boy portend.  

According to him, “while the world seem to have done fairly well in devoting immense time and resources to tackling women and girls issues, not much seem to have been done in dealing with men and boys issues. The perception that the male has it all in wrap is now being debunked when we consider the many challenges that the society and family face due to neglect of the man.”

It is noteworthy that the International Men's Day (IMD) was borne out of the need to focus on men’s and boy’s health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models. In most countries, the event offers an opportunity for men to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care while highlighting the usually under-reported discrimination against men.

NATHANIEL BASSEY TO MINISTER @ CCIC CAMPMEETING 2017 GRAND FINALE

The 2017 Campmeeting of Christ Chapel International Churches (CCIC) will come to a grand climax with celebrated worship leader and gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey ministering on Sunday morning October 22 inside the auditorium of the Church at Amuwo an outskirt of Lagos.

Son of a minister of The Apostolic Church, Bassey developed a passion for music and the gospel at an early age. From those early days of uncommon interest in iconic jazz artistes like Louis Armstrong, Miles Davies, Clifford Brown, Charlie Parker and Hugh Masakela, he went on to translate interest to involvement when he performed with a Lagos group, Spectrum 4. He eventually encountered late musicologist, Elder Steve Rhodes and he led THE STEVE RHODES ORCHESTRA for two years.

Notable for his soulful trumpet playing skills, his deep yearning for God and the love for his creator became irresistible and after a stint l at The Redeemed Christian Church Of God, City Of David Parish, pastored then by late Pastor Eskor Mfon, his journey into full gospel music began.

OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR ABDULFATAH AHMED OF KWARA STATE ON THE CURRICULUM CONTROVERSY

Attempts to get answers to some questions bothering on the Kwara State Government’s seeming varying of the Basic Education Curriculum approved for Nigerian schools, to the disadvantage of Christian pupils, have not succeeded. Save for an autoresponder on the Governor’s Facebook Messenger account that says he will get back shortly; there have not been responses to messages sent through his personal and official websites’ Contact Us facilities. Attempts by phone and through Twitter also failed. The questions are therefore being aired openly here in the hope that somebody will see it and draw the attention of the relevant officials of the Kwara State government to this:

Your Excellency, Sir,

You are no doubt aware of the on-going Curriculum Controversy about which the national umbrella body of Christians, the Christian Association of Nigeria has mentioned your state as one of the culprits.

Specifically, CAN accuses your administration of being complicit in the unilateral amendment of the national curriculum to the advantage of Moslems and the detriment of Christians. CAN also says it has evidence that Christian students are being physically tortured to take Islamic Religious Knowledge in your State.

All of which remains in the realm of allegations until it is proven otherwise.

However, the Timetable of the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examinations reveals some worrisome issues which seem to confirm the fears of CAN.

A perusal of the Timetable signed on behalf of the Hon Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development by Alhaji Sabi Ibrahim indicate the following:

·     On Wednesday, July 12, Religion and National Values (KW/BECE/304) is scheduled for 9-11am; Islamic Religious Knowledge (KW/BECE/204) is scheduled for the next day (July 13) at 10:30am;

·       

    On the same day, Arabic CAIS (KW/BECE/204), Arabic JIS (KW/BECE/205) and Islamic Studies (KW/BECE/407) are scheduled for 9am, 10:30am and 12noon respectively;

·    

     Christian Religious Knowledge is conspicuously missing. Even if it has been subsumed in Religious and National Values, it would be contrary to the national curriculum which provides that CRK and IRK be studied side-by-side within RNV. So, an undue advantage would have been conferred on IRK to the marginalisation of CRK.

·   

     Also, Arabic was supposed to be offered as a substitute to French. French is NOT on the Timetable.

·        

     The status of Islamic History is also a little difficult to understand.

    Your Excellency, you may wish to educate the public on these observations so that the fear being expressed in many circles that this is in pursuit of a national Islamisation agenda, and that Kwara is simply being used to test the waters, is laid to rest.

May I thank you most sincerely for your kind response to this humble inquiry on a matter that is capable of giving you, your government, your state and the political party you belong to, a not-so-savoury image.

B-R-E-A-K-I-N-G! BILL WINSTON TO ESTABLISH BUSINESS SCHOOL IN NIGERIA

The Joseph Business School, Lagos is the offing! This was announced this morning at Day Two of the on-going West African Faith Believers' Conference, WAFBEC 2014.


An associate of Dr William "Bill" Winston, who was called upon to speak briefly during Winston's session, said the school, which was founded by the American Word of Faith preacher has campuses in five continents except Africa. Discussions are therefore to be opened with Pastor Poju Oyemade, Senior Pastor, Covenant Christian Centre, whose ministry is hosting the conference, with a view to establishing the first African campus in Lagos.

The Joseph Business School was established in 1998 as a result of a vision given to Dr Winston to "provide practical business and leadership teaching utilizing biblical principles and resources. The mission is to develop successful Christian entrepreneurs who will create income and employment opportunities for others, through the wealth and job creation that entrepreneurship and vocational training can provide..."


 

BILL WINSTON, JODA, OYEDEPO SET FOR WAFBEC 2014

Covenant Christian Centre has unveiled the names of guest ministers for this year’s edition of West Africa Faith Believers’ Convention (WAFBEC) opening in Lagos on Sunday. Joining the host minister Pastor Poju Oyemade are Bishop Oyedepo, Dr. Bill Winston, Dr. Tunde Joda, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, Bishop Wale Francis Oke and Rev. George Olawale Adegboye.

Others include Dr. Tony Rapu, Dr. Andy Osakwe, Dr. Darrell Huffman, Dr. Scott Webb, Pastor Charles Cowan, Dr. David Beede and Rev. Matt Beemer.

Pastor Poju Oyemade - Host 

The event, themed “Faith for the Last Days”, is scheduled to hold from Sunday, January 26th to Friday 31, 2014 at the prestigious Indoor Sport Hall of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos State. The daily programme is divided into three sessions - morning, afternoon and evening. He hosts regular Faith Seminars, Singles’ Summits, Financial and Business Seminars and also established outreaches such as The Platform Nigeria. Popular American preacher Dr. Bill Winston will take the participants twice on Monday, 9.30am and 8.30pm, and on Tuesday 8.30am. Dr. Winston is the founder and pastor of Living Word Christian Centre, a multi-cultural, non-denominational church in Forest Park, Illinois, United States of America. He founded the Joseph Business School (JBS) and The Joseph Centre for Business Development for entrepreneurs and business leaders. He also founded Bill Winston Ministries (BWM), through which he hosts the Believer’s Walk of Faith television and radio broadcast. The Alabama-born preacher and graduate of Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama (now Tuskegee University) served with distinction in United States Air Force for six years as a fighter pilot. After his military career, he joined the IBM Corporation as a marketing representative rising to become a regional marketing manager. He resigned in 1985 to enter full-time ministry.

Dr Tunde Joda, the founder, and senior pastor of  Voice of Faith Ministries aka Christ Chapel International Churches (CCIC), will minister on Thursday 27^th by 9.30am and Friday at 5.30pm. He has a calling in teaching the word of faith. This, he does with passion and conviction, revealing the truth and power of God’s word, which has continued to affect the world from generation to generation.  Affectionately called “the coach”, he is reputed as one of the leaders of the word of faith movement in Nigeria, through whose ministry many of the new generation of ministry leaders passed.

American Dr. Darrell E. Huffman is the pastor of New Life Church in Huntington, West Virginia. He is to minister Sunday (8.30pm), Tuesday (9.30am) and Wednesday (9.30am). He attended Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After college he was ordained through Rhema Ministerial Association International and pastored churches in West Virginia and Arkansas. An anointed teacher of the Word of God with an apostolic and prophetic grace, Pastor Johnson was studying for a postgraduate degree in Communications Engineering at the Imperial College, London, when the Lord called him to teach the undiluted Word of God. Since then he has ministered the Word of God extensively in churches, seminars, and conventions.

EKINE LISTED ALONGSIDE POPE FRANCIS ON LIST OF TOP 100 GLOBAL THINKERS

Rev Mrs Adefunke Ekine, who pastors the Ibadan centre of Christ Chapel International Churches (CCIC) with her husband Rev Elekima Ekine, is one of only two Nigerians listed on The LSDP TOP 100 GLOBAL THINKERS OF 2013. Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, Governor of Lagos State is the other. LSDP, which stands for Lo Spazio della Politica in Italian, is a policy think-tank based both in Italy and Brussels. It sees the list of global thinkers as “an opportunity to identify some of this year's trends in politics and the global economy, and it highlights some key aspects of the way we work”. According to a statement by the body known in English as Space Policy, the list, which began in 2009, was inspired by the Foreign Policy (magazine) list of 100 global thinkers but it differs from it “because we apply a simple rule: we do not include any person who appeared in the FP ranking of the previous year, unless the person has been previously included in one of our rankings. Mrs Ekine who was listed as Number 33 is being recognised “for her experience of teaching and directing schools in Africa; in particular, for the promotion of science among young female students”.

RECYCLED - REPORTS THAT A PASTOR DROWNED TRYING TO WALK ON WATER!

YOU MAY HAVE read a news report carried by a number of Nigerian newspapers including the Guardian, Sun that one Pastor Franck Kabele drowned recently while trying to walk on water like Jesus. Well, it's a recycled report from 2006, being passed off as current. It was correctly attributed to WorldNetDaily KINGDOMPeople has yet to get a response from that newspaper to our confirmation inquiries. Two different photographs accompany the report depending on where you read it from, neither of which was, to the best of our knowledge, carried by WND when it published the report seven years ago.

DARLENE ZSCHECH DIAGNOSED FOR BREAST CANCER...Will You Please Pray For Her?

AUSTRALIAN PRAISE AND WORSHIP LEADER AND PASTOR, DARLENE ZSCHECH has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She announced it herself in a statement co-signed with her husband, Mark, with whom she serves as Senior Pastor of Hope Unlimited Church. Famous for the globally covered song, Shout to the Lord, among many others, Darlene had gone for a routine mammogram check on December 19 when the diagnosis was pronounced. Her December 29, 2013 announcement addressed "Dearest Friends" reads: "We pray you have had a wonderful Christmas thus far. "Mark and I wanted to share with you some news that has touched our family over the last two weeks. On Wednesday, December 11, at a routine mammogram, the doctors discovered that I had developed breast cancer. Since then, it has been a whirlwind of appointments, scans and surgery. Thankfully though, I came home from hospital on Christmas Eve and, with the help of our wonderful team, I was able to watch our HOPE UC Christmas Eve service streamed live into our lounge room. "Even though the past days have been very tough at times, the Holy Spirit has brought me endless comfort and the Word of God is literally holding me moment by moment. My husband and children have been heroic and I can’t thank my family enough for their love and support through this. Our church leadership team have anointed me with oil and prayed with unity and authority, a band of trusted friends have helped me prayerfully and practically, and it is only now that I have felt able to share this with you. To be completely honest, this is not the kind of news anyone ever really wants to tell. However, I have seen two absolute miracles in my body thus far and I know there will be many more to come.
