NATHANIEL BASSEY TO MINISTER @ CCIC CAMPMEETING 2017 GRAND FINALE

The 2017 Campmeeting of Christ Chapel International Churches (CCIC) will come to a grand climax with celebrated worship leader and gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey ministering on Sunday morning October 22 inside the auditorium of the Church at Amuwo an outskirt of Lagos.

Bassey who is unarguably one of Nigeria’s greatest gospel music export, is making his first appearance at Campmeeting, which is marking its 36th year and is featuring this year ministers like Pastors Tunde Bakare, Matthew Ashimolowo, Poju Oyemade and Mrs Funke Felix Adejumo.

Others include Pastors Biodun Fatoyinbo, Tokunbo Adejuwon, Bayo Oniwinde, Mike Olorogun and Mrs Stella Nwanze.

However, to be bring the programmes of Campmeeting 2017 to a close, Nathaniel Bassey will take the stage as he ministers in songs on a day usually reserved for the chief hosts, Reverend Dr Tunde Joda and his wife, Reverend Mrs Ebun Joda.

From relative obscurity, Nathaniel Bassey has made consistent his rise to the top of the gospel music space in Nigeria and beyond. "The Hallelujah Challenge" a 30-day praise and worship session which he initiated and led from June 1-30 saw millions of people in Nigeria and beyond worshipping together live from 12.00 midnight to 1.00a.m every day connecting through his Instagram handle @nathanielblow. The theme of the worship session was "Olowogboboro", which is Yoruba word for "The Broad and Mighty Hand of God”.

Son of a minister of The Apostolic Church, Bassey developed a passion for music and the gospel at an early age. From those early days of uncommon interest in iconic jazz artistes like Louis Armstrong, Miles Davies, Clifford Brown, Charlie Parker and Hugh Masakela, he went on to translate interest to involvement when he performed with a Lagos group, Spectrum 4. He eventually encountered late musicologist, Elder Steve Rhodes and he led THE STEVE RHODES ORCHESTRA for two years.

Notable for his soulful trumpet playing skills, his deep yearning for God and the love for his creator became irresistible and after a stint l at The Redeemed Christian Church Of God, City Of David Parish, pastored then by late Pastor Eskor Mfon, his journey into full gospel music began.

Nathaniel loves God, he continues to evolve in his depth of knowledge of the Holy Spirit.  Today, he has elevated his gospel music into a fundamental tool in the praise and worship of the Lord. WORSHIP holds the ace for Nathaniel and he never fails to usher his congregation into God’s presence, at all times.

Nathaniel Bassey is a graduate of Politics and International Relations from the University of London, he serves as the director of music at the RCCG, The King’s Court. His first album was made in 2008 with the title Elohim and has the hit track ‘Someone’s knocking at the door’.

He writes, sings and produces his own music and records with diverse groups of musicians.
